Why is surveys.free free?
It's built by a solo developer who wanted a simple survey tool without sign-up walls or ads. Creating surveys, collecting responses, and exporting them are all free.
Getting started
Do I need an account to create a survey?
No. You can build and share a survey without signing up. An account is optional and only used to save surveys to a dashboard.
How do I create a survey?
On the homepage, type what your survey is about and click "Create survey," or start from a template. You'll get an editor right away.
Can I start from a template?
Yes. Browse the template library, pick one, and click "Create from template" to get your own editable copy.
Building your survey
What question types are supported?
Multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdowns, yes/no, Likert scales, star ratings, numbers, dates, short and long text, plus email, phone, and URL fields.
How do I add, reorder, or remove questions?
In the editor you can add questions of any type, drag to reorder them, and remove the ones you don't need — then save.
Can I make a question required?
Yes. Toggle "required" on any question so respondents must answer it before submitting.
Sharing & collecting
How do I share my survey?
Each survey has a public link you send to participants, plus a QR code you can print or display.
What's the difference between the public link and the admin link?
The public link is for taking the survey. The secret admin link is how you edit it and view responses — keep that one private.
How do I open or close my survey?
From the admin page you can open it to start collecting responses, close it to stop, or move it back to draft.
Can I set a closing date?
Yes. Set a closing date and the survey stops accepting responses after it. You can also extend or clear the deadline later.
Responses & results
Where do I see responses?
Open "Responses" from the admin page to see every submission.
Can I export responses?
Yes. Download all responses as a CSV spreadsheet at any time.
Are there charts or summaries?
Yes. The "Insights" page shows response counts, averages, completion rate, and per-question charts.
Are responses anonymous?
Yes, unless you add a name or email question. We don't collect personal details from respondents on your behalf.

What does an account give me?
A dashboard with all your surveys in one place, so you never lose an admin link, plus easy management.
I made a survey before signing up — can I save it?
Yes. Open its admin page while logged in and click "Save to your account" to claim it.
Privacy
Is my data private?
Your surveys are reachable only via their secret admin link or public link. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell data, run ad networks, or train AI on your surveys or responses.
Can I delete a survey and its responses?
Yes. Deleting a survey also removes its responses.

What are templates?
Ready-made surveys you can clone and customize — for feedback, events, friends & family polls, and more.
Can I use templates without an account?
Yes — no account needed.
