surveys.free is built to be useful without being nosy. You can create and answer surveys without an account. This page explains what we collect, what we don't do with it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

People taking a survey

We store the answers submitted to a survey, plus a random visitor identifier and a session cookie used to understand basic usage. We never ask respondents for a name or email unless the survey's creator added those questions.

Survey creators (no account)

The surveys and questions you build, saved against secret, randomly generated link tokens. No login or personal details are required to create a survey.

Account holders

If you choose to sign up, we store your username, an encrypted password, and any optional details you add (such as an email address or account name).

Site analytics

We collect aggregate technical data — IP address, browser, and traffic patterns — to understand how the site is used. This is used in aggregate, not to build profiles of you.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data.
• We don't run third-party ad networks.
• We don't train AI models on your surveys or responses.
• We don't share your email address.
• Our robots.txt keeps secret survey links out of search engines.

Third-party services we use

• Analytics — Google Analytics, Simple Analytics, and Tinylytics help us measure usage. Analytics are not loaded for signed-in staff.
• Hosting & infrastructure — providers that run our database, cache, and servers.
• Buy Me a Coffee — only involved if you choose to click the donate link, which takes you to their site.

Cookies

We use a durable visitor cookie and a short-lived visit cookie to understand usage, plus standard session and security (CSRF) cookies when you're signed in. Simple Analytics and Tinylytics are cookieless; Google Analytics may set its own cookies, which you can block in your browser.

Sharing surveys

Each survey has a public link (a random token) that anyone can use to respond, and a secret admin link that you keep to manage it and view responses. Anyone with a link can use it, so share the admin link only with people you trust.

Your rights

• You can delete a survey at any time, which removes its responses.
• Account holders can manage or delete their account.
• You can export responses to CSV at any time.
• Contact us if you'd like data removed.

Children

surveys.free isn't directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
